Nine Winters is the long anticipated new album from The May North, an indie folk and Americana band from St. Paul, Minnesota.
We recorded four albums in our first four years as a band, built a community of listeners we loved, and played shows that meant so much to us. During that time we did something else we’d always meant to do; we started our family. Intentionally, wholeheartedly, and without a single regret.
But the songs never stopped coming. We wrote the songs on Nine Winters between 2016 and 2025, across nine years of life, love, loss, and the kind of living that fills songs with something real. We recorded it at the legendary Pachyderm Studios with engineer Nick Tveitbakk, and at NeonBrown Recording Studio with producer Ryan Young of Trampled by Turtles and Dead Man Winter. For mastering, we are working with Grammy-nominated engineer Huntley Miller, whose credits include records by Bon Iver and Sylvan Esso.
This record marks a natural evolution in our sound: more expansive, more indie folk, with drums and electric guitars appearing in our music for the very first time. And for the first time ever in music, you’ll hear Steph leading songs she wrote herself.
We are pressing a limited run of 100 vinyl records and we need your help to make it happen. Every dollar raised goes directly toward mastering, vinyl pressing, and getting this music in front of new listeners.
Nine Winters may be the most honest music we’ve ever made, and we can’t wait for you to hear it. Join our community and help us bring Nine Winters across the finish line.
